In the world today, there are organizations around the globe that are dedicated to keeping these magnificent aircraft flying. While some have corporate sponsors, most depend on donations from individuals such as yourself.
In reality, these aircraft are priceless. However, the parts that are needed to "Keep 'em Flying" are not.
Did you know that the cost of this engine alone is in the $60,000.00 range?
What you might not know is that to keep this engine from losing bolts, we use something that is called safety wire. This keeps every bolt from vibrating off and causing the unthinkable.
Also, what you might not know is that a roll of this essential safety wire only costs $10.00.
Likewise, in that same engine, a single fitting costs $30.00.
There are so many items that just a few dollars can help buy:
- Spark Plugs: $20 each (Show Me uses 56!)
- Brake Disks: $35 each (Show Me uses 56!)
- Hydraulics Fluid: $3 qt. (Show Me and the TBM uses a good amount of this item!)
- Grease Tube: $5 (These older planes can use some grease!)
So, no matter what amount you are able to help with, there is one thing certain... It will definitely be used to help keep these WWII aircraft airworthy.
